Annually, it is appropriate to honor those who have provided significant service for our professional association and our field of endeavor. Please join us for our 3rd Quarter Educational Session, August 4th , when we will honor 10 of our colleagues for their service to the field and to our College. A special thank you to our colleague and friend, Adam Walmus, FACHE, immediate past Director of the Michael E. DeBakey Veterans Affairs Medical Center, as he announced his retirement this past May. Adam has served our Board well since 2010 and we take this opportunity to thank him for his service, support and friendship to his colleagues in the ACHE-SETC and the entire VA system.
Several months ago our chapter began the process of formally pursuing collaborative agreements with other diverse professional associations (Latino Healthcare Executives, Asian Healthcare Leaders Forum, Rainbow Healthcare Leaders, and the National Association of Health Service Executives) to expand leadership opportunities for minorities in health services management. We are looking forward to embracing the ideas and values these leaders will bring as we work towards further awareness and accepting differences. In addition, the Chapter continues to enthusiastically support the efforts to eliminate healthcare disparities through supporting the annual HDEART program with our active engagement of providing educational programming each year.
To all those who participated in the ACHE Member Survey last month, thank you! ACHE will provide the results of the survey to all the chapters in September. We look forward to reviewing your suggestions and creating new opportunities for assisting each of you to help develop your roles more fully.
Warmest Regards,
Jack Buckley, FACHE
