COVID Testing Site Volunteer Event

Join us to help with the COVID-19 testing effort in Houston!

Choose between different volunteer opportunities for service at a COVID-19 testing site, including medical and support positions.

Medical Volunteers: Medical volunteers are needed to collect samples from individuals as they drive through the testing sites. Volunteers might have contact with those getting tested for possible COVID-19.

Support Volunteers at all testing sites: Will not have any contact with those getting tested for COVID-19. Volunteers will fill many roles to help the operations run smoothly and safely. Currently support volunteers are assisting with traffic control, scribes, checking to make sure those getting tested have necessary documentation (code and ID), and registration. They might also be helping in logistical duties such as cleaning and sanitizing common areas and acting as runners with delivering supplies to stations on site.

Positions Available:

Station 2 – Support Staff; Requisition and Registration – Staff is tasked with registering and printing out requisition forms for citizens; Station 2 Runner – Verifying and placing completed requisition forms on outgoing cars; Traffic Control – Direct traffic coming in and out of Station 2
Station 3 – Medical Staff; Tester – Instruct citizens on how to test and collect sample for testing
Station 3 Runner – Assists the tester in collecting the sample and ensure all information is correct with Quality Control; Quality Control – Ensuring all requisition forms are correct and with the correct sample
Logistics

Additional Support Positions; Logistics Staff – Maintaining and supplying all stations and amenities on site; Bag Assemblers – Fold pamphlets and insert into bags for use in station 3

Important Information

Dress code: Comfortable clothes or scrubs (nothing unprofessional please), closed toed shoes, full pants (no shorts) and be prepared for changing weather/rain.

Meals: Lunch is provided (let us know in comments if you have a food need such as being a vegetarian)

Restriction: For Your Safety! Due to the nature of this task, we are asking that you do not sign up if you are considered a high-risk individual for COVID-19. Those at higher risk include:

• People 65 and older.
• People with underlying health conditions (e.g. heart disease, lung disease, diabetes, etc.)
• People who have weakened immune systems
• Pregnant women
