Community Service Opportunity: Volunteer at Star of Hope for “Cookies and Good Night”

September 28, 2022 @ 7:15 pm - 8:30 pm

Free

Who doesn’t love an evening snack?

Volunteers will have a wonderful time visiting with clients of Star of Hope as they serve an evening snack.  As part of this initiative, we will be partnering with Houston Methodist’s Center for Performing Arts & Medicine and Outspoken Bean, Houston Poet Laureate, for a short performance as an added treat!  Outspoken Bean’s Bio can be accessed here:  https://www.outspokenbean.com/cv

Volunteers will serve both families and single women who reside at the Women & Family Development Center.  Volunteers will need to arrive at 7:15 PM to sign-in, walk to the dining room, and set-up.  Residents are invited to come by for a snack beginning at 7:45 PM.  Snack time will conclude at 8:15 PM.  Volunteers help clean-up & sign-out by 8:30 PM.

Please wear ACHE volunteer shirt, jeans, and closed-toed shoes.  Bring a mask, just in case, as this is an indoor event.  Please note there is a required 30 minute virtual orientation via Teams the week before the event (details to follow).

Star of Hope is a Christ-centered community dedicated to meeting the needs of homeless men, women, and their children.  The center is located at 2575 Reed Rd Houston, TX 7705, and free parking is available on site.
