Regents Report Southeast Texas – Fall 2019

Fall 2019

Hello Southeast Texas Colleagues,

I cannot believe we are in the final months of 2019 and the holiday season is already creeping upon us. It is my wish for each of you to be able to take some time off, enjoy your family and friends this holiday season, and rejuvenate for the great things coming in 2020.

It is with mixed emotions, and a great deal of appreciation, to announce that our Southeast Texas Chapter’s Executive Director of Operations, Don Gibson, FACHE, is retiring at the conclusion of 2019. Don has contributed tirelessly to the success of our local chapter. Don, I would like to publicly thank you for your support and dedication to our chapter for the last 12 years. You have done an outstanding job and contributed a great deal to our growth and accomplishments. It is definitely going to be difficult to fill the big shoes you leave behind. We wish you a wonderful retirement; you will be missed, but never forgotten. You have done so much for so many and we truly thank you. I am also pleased to announce that Mark Biscone, PhD, MPH, FACHE will be stepping in as Don’s replacement. Mark brings extensive knowledge and experience, and I am confident will seamlessly transition into the role and provide our chapter with valuable support. Mark has been very involved with our Chapter over the years and I am very excited to have Mark join us in this capacity. Please help me in congratulating and welcoming Mark to ACHE-SETC as the new Executive Director of Operations!

Thank you to all who were able to participate in our September community event at the Houston Food Bank. It was great to see so many members giving back to our community. Our annual 2019 healthcare leadership conference was another one for the books. I hope all those who were able to attend enjoyed it as much as I did. I am proud to report we have seen some significant engagement with additional physicians who have expressed interest in participating in our future chapter events.

Lastly, thank you to each and every one of our members for your support and commitment in making this another incredibly successful year; I trust with your help we will continue to support and grow SETC as one of the largest and strongest chapters in all of ACHE.

I wish you all a joyous holiday and ample quality time to spend with your family and friends.

Save-the-Date for the Following Remaining 2019 Event:

4th Quarter Education Business Session, Wednesday, December 4 at 6:45 a.m. at the Junior League of Houston (1811 Briar Oaks Lane, Houston). The topic is “Changes in Medicine = Changing Access” and will be presented by Nancy Dickey, MD.

All the best,

Todd
