Regent’s Message December 2017

Message from Your ACHE Regent

December 2017

Hello Southeast Texas Colleagues,

I want to take this time to extend my well wishes to everyone while we recover from Hurricane Harvey. I know many of you were very involved within your own facilities ensuring that patients were well taken care of throughout the entire storm. It made me very proud to be a part of the profession we have all chosen; to put our patients first and ensure their safety and well-being come first. I will continue to keep all of you in my thoughts and prayers. I wish everyone speedy recoveries.

I hope that many of you have had the opportunity to attend one of our breakfast sessions this year. I have been very impressed with the quality of our speakers and the message they all send to all of us as caregivers. To recap our year, we had Armando Nahum talk with us about hospital associated infections, Dr. Benjamin Chu spoke with us about Memorial Hermann Health System, Dr. Jonathan Perlin, MD, PhD spoke with us about HCA Healthcare and Dr. Tejal Gandhi spoke with us about the National Patient Safety Foundation.

In addition to our breakfast sessions, I hope many of you had the opportunity to attend our annual healthcare leadership conference last month. It turned out to be a great event and I would like to thank Don Gibson, Tyra Barge, Cescely Smith and the many volunteers that help make the conference a success. This was our fifth annual conference, and I am hopeful that everyone has enjoyed this educational opportunity at such an affordable price.

I want to take this opportunity to thank Jeanna Bamburg, our 2017 Chapter President, for her leadership and commitment to our chapter. Thank you so much, Jeanna! I would also like to welcome Paul O’ Sullivan as our incoming President of 2018. Paul and Memorial Hermann have been highly supportive of ACHE-SETC over the years and we look forward to Paul’s leadership next year.

Thank you all for your continued support of our chapter and in making this a very successful year. I hope you have a wonderful holiday season and spend quality time with family and friends.
