Please tell us a little about your background and what inspired you to pursue a career in healthcare:

Healthcare means more than a career for me; it is a lifestyle to continually help people in meaningful ways. I come from a family of healthcare clinicians, mostly nurses who have deep passion for patient care. I have always enjoyed the stories I have heard through the years about how they have affected people’s lives, and I want to be part of that, however I can. The industry opened its arms to me when I migrated from the Philippines in my early 20s. Like a sponge, I learned a lot about the operations of running a hospital, a medical group, and various service lines, among others. Over the years, I have learned how to better listen and talk to physicians, staff and patients from across multiple backgrounds. In the end, we all want to help and improve healthcare, it is up to us to all come together and align on what is important.

What activities do you like to do in your free time?

I love reading, watching broadway shows, and walking around the lake in the neighborhood.  I also like to travel internationally with my family and learn different cultures.

What is your favorite ACHE memory or activity?

I love attending Congress every year.  It is an opportunity to connect with fellow healthcare industry teammates who have also made the commitment to learning more about and improving the state of healthcare.

How do you envision healthcare in the next 10 years?

I envision a more personalized care where clinicians connect with patients on a much deeper, more personalized level.  Education in wellness improves every year, so that in the next 10 years, patients are more informed about how to better take care of themselves and others.  The industry also switches its focus on quality, versus quantity.  I remain optimistic that we can figure this out.
