From the President’s Desk

michell-riley-brownThis year has been an amazing one and as it comes to a close, so does the end of my chair position for the chapter. I have so enjoyed being your president and I am thankful for the opportunity to provide service to the chapter membership.

We have had a busy year and I know many of you are proud of what has been accomplished. The chapter was the co-sponsor for four quarterly educational (breakfast) sessions, an international conference, numerous health disparities programs, our 10th anniversary “What’s Up, Boss?”, an annual golf tournament, and collaborated with several professional healthcare societies in a one-day symposium. Additionally, the chapter donated $5,000 to the Down Syndrome Association of Houston, awarded $25,000 in academic scholarships to five MHA students, and awarded $6,000 Scholarships to help four MHA graduate students to attend the 2014 ACHE Congress in Chicago. Yet, none of this could have been accomplished without you, our members, sponsors, volunteers and Board. I am most appreciative of all of your support and dedication to our chapter.

Although it’s time to relinquish my position to my esteem colleague, Craig Cordola, CEO, Memorial Hermann Hospital, Texas Medical Center, I will continue to serve the chapter and hope that you will join me. If you are new to SouthEastTexasChapter, I encourage you to become involved and help make our chapter one of the best. There are many opportunities for you to contribute to the success and growth of the chapter and I encourage you to become a member of a committee and share your talents.  If you are a long time member, but not currently involved, I challenge you to become an active participant in 2015…you won’t regret it. We have already started putting together events for 2015 and it is beginning to look like another exciting year for SETC. So stay tuned to the chapter’s website for news and upcoming events and get ready to participate.

I encourage you to get involved and make the most of your membership investment with ACHE national and ACHE-SETC. If you need assistance with your membership or have any questions please contact Don Gibson, FACHE, Administrator for ACHE-SETC, at 281-398-7877 or email: quantumleadership@ache-houston.org.

In closing, I welcome your incoming president Craig Cordola. Craig will provide excellent leadership. Happy Holidays to each of you and have a wonderful New Year! I look forward to seeing you in 2015.

Warmest Regards,

Michelle Riley-Brown
